Eizo Cares About the Environment

A Simple Equation for Economy

ALL ABOUT ECOVIEW
“EcoView” embodies EIZO’s concept of combining ergonomic and environmental features for an economical result. A monitor with EcoView features delivers increased comfort, reduced environmental burden, and ultimately lower running costs. It is ideal for corporate and government facilities as well as small and home offices that are concerned with the environment but require a high-quality monitor.
This below introduces EcoView features and explains how they make viewing an EIZO monitor more comfortable while reducing energy consumption.
OPTIMUM BRIGHTNESS
Optimized Brightness with Auto EcoView
A sensor on the front of the monitor measures ambient light and optimizes the screen’s brightness to ensure the screen is never too bright or too dark. Whereas most brightness sensors use just one reference point to determine the ideal screen brightness, Auto EcoView uses two ― one for light and one for dark ambient environments. This allows the monitor to more accurately achieve the ideal brightness in both brightly and dimly lit rooms.

Confirm Power Savings with EcoView Index
EcoView Index displays the level of power savings in correlation with the monitor’s brightness to encourage environmental consciousness while working. The more illuminated the graph the greater the power savings.

Some models give further indications of energy savings by displaying the power and CO2 reduction compared to using the monitor without Auto EcoView activated and a brightness of 100%.

PRESENCE SENSOR
Presence Sensor for Power Savings
An integrated presence sensor called EcoView Sense is included with several EcoView models. EcoView Sense prompts the monitor to switch to power save mode when it does not detect anyone after 70 seconds, and then resume normal operation when it detects the user has returned.
To estimate the potential energy savings EcoView Sense can provide, EIZO conducted an internal survey across different departments of how much time its employees spend away from their desks. The results showed on average they spend about 29% of the work day away from their desks, indicating that EcoView Sense can reduce power expenditures for a monitor by almost 29%.

ERGONOMIC STANDS
Placement Flexibility
Ergonomic stands ensure proper viewing posture to help alleviate eye fatigue as well as neck and shoulder stiffness. All EcoView models come with one of the following stands.
•The FlexStand with 174 mm of height adjustment, 30° of tilt, 344° of swivel, and 90° of rotation for portrait mode.
•The height adjustable stand with 82 mm of height adjustment, 40° of tilt, 70°of swivel, and 90° of rotation for portrait mode.
•The EzUp stand with more than 150 mm of height adjustment, 25°of tilt, 344° of swivel, and 90° of rotation for portrait mode.
•The TriStand with 60 mm of height adjustment, 25° of tilt, and 344° of swivel.

PRESET MODES
Preset Modes for Optimum Viewing
Choose from several preset modes to get the best screen settings for the task at hand. For example, when using word processing or spreadsheet applications, selecting “Text” mode adjusts the screen’s brightness and color temperature more closely to the brightness and tint of the paper on your desk. You can switch between modes simply by pressing a button on the monitor’s front bezel. Furthermore, with the bundled ScreenManager Pro for LCD software, you can assign a preset mode to an application so that when the application is activated, the screen automatically changes to the assigned mode.

EyeCare Mode
Available with select models, EyeCare mode lowers brightness to a mere 4 cd/m2 or less. This ultra-low brightness provides a more comfortable viewing experience when working in an environment with very dim ambient lighting such as a CAD studio.

Eye Fatigue Prevention Guide
EIZO conducted a survey in 2008 with an ophthalmologist that established the relationship between eye fatigue and monitor use. The results showed that features like Auto EcoView and ergonomic stands helped reduce eye fatigue and increase productivity by 12.5%.
