EIZO Adds New Pixel Inspection Function to ColorEdge Monitors for Color Management System Managers in Post Production Studios

Hakusan, Japan, September 7, 2023 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today introduced a new function called Pixel Inspection for its ColorEdge CG2700X and CG2700S color management monitors. In response to demand from global post production and 3DCG studios, EIZO introduced this function for color management system managers and IT staff to provide a method for verifying color information from creator work environments.

Whether its editing, VFX creation, compositing, or color grading, the video creation workflow requires that each creator work within certain defined parameters to ensure consistency, including video hardware, software, and monitor settings. Working within the wrong parameters affects the creator’s editing decisions, potentially requiring significant rework of the project and causing costly delays in production schedules. In addition, with many post production studios using hybrid or fully remote workflows, color management system managers and IT staff may not always be able to directly verify that their creators are working under the appropriate technical conditions for each project.

Pixel Inspection is a new function added to the ColorEdge CG2700X and CG2700S color management monitors. After initial setup of video editing hardware and software or when switching to a new project, system managers can instruct their creators to use Pixel Inspection to check the color information of a pixel. Because Pixel Inspection is easily operated through the monitor’s on-screen display (OSD), creators can quickly provide color information to system managers without needing advanced technical instruction.

Pixel Inspection shows the color information of a pixel from the source input data and the data as it is displayed on the monitor. If there is a discrepancy between the resulting color information and the studio’s pre-defined color parameters for a particular project, experienced system managers can assess the likely cause and take steps to resolve it. By using Pixel Inspection, studios can ensure that their creators are working under the appropriate technical conditions, reducing the likelihood of project rework due to mismatched technical settings.

Availability

Pixel Inspection is now available as a function of ColorEdge CG2700X and CG2700S. Existing users must download the latest firmware to access the function.
