Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. is an investment banking and securities firm wholly owned by Mizuho Financial Group – one of the largest financial institutions in the world. Between 2020 and 2022, the company, which has been using EIZO monitors in several departments for many years, replaced the monitors in the Global Markets Division, where dealing operations are conducted, and in the back office, including the Human Resources, Financial Control, and IT & Systems Groups. A total of 2,234 FlexScan EV2480 23.8-inch monitors, 2,280 FlexScan EV2760 27-inch monitors, and 110 FlexScan EV3895 37.5-inch monitors were installed. We asked a company representative about the details of the installation and their overall experience with the new EIZO monitors.

“This monitor replacement, which took place from 2020 to 2022, saw the installation of 4,624 FlexScan monitors. This included 2,280 EV2760 monitors in the Global Markets Division and 2,234 EV2480 monitors in the back office.
“The Global Markets Division, which installed the 27-inch EV2760s, has a complex configuration of equipment utilizing KVM switches and the monitors’ Picture-by-Picture (PbyP) function. In addition, dealing operations require continuous monitoring of foreign exchange and stock price movements. Given the nature of this business, we take great care in selecting our equipment and verifying that everything is connected properly in advance, as it would be fatal if a monitor or PC were to malfunction and prevent us from tracking the numbers. That’s why our company values EIZO monitors highly for their durability and reliability. Moreover, since dealing operations involve handling a lot of numerical and tabular data on the monitors, we appreciate that the high image quality allows us to see the data clearly and distinctly.
“In the back office, the 23.8-inch EV2480 was installed as our standard monitor. We previously used a 19-inch EIZO monitor as the standard, but we took this opportunity upgrade to a larger model. “Dealing operations involve handling a variety of information simultaneously in foreign exchange and securities trading. This requires many PCs and monitors, as well as efficient arrangement and data organization on the screen. For example, terminals for ordering shares cannot be used on PCs with additional applications installed, and many monitors are required to display the order screens at all times. Therefore, in 2016, four vertical EV2750 27-inch monitors with PbyP functionality, which allows multiple PC screens to be displayed side by side, were installed at each desk to display a large amount of information simultaneously.”

“This time, the EV2760, the successor to the EV2750, was selected based on past performance and is being operated in the same configuration as before, with four monitors arranged vertically. All monitors were shipped in a VESA mount configuration, without the stand, and were easily installed on lift or standing desks using a monitor arm. By keeping the area under the monitors clear, we can make effective use of each workspace. We are also pleased to be able to continue using the PbyP function to display the output from multiple PCs side by side. The thin bezel allows smooth eye movement between the monitors and the wide display area is used as if it were one large screen.” |

Hot Desking: Dual EV2760 Monitors for Quick Connection to Laptops

“Our company has implemented a system whereby 25% of the employees working at our headquarters regularly work remotely. Having created an environment where each employee can design their own work style by using both in-person and remote working methods, we have set up a hot-desking area as part of our efforts to accommodate these new work styles. This area is equipped with two EV2760 monitors per desk, which can be connected to a laptop and used immediately. Hot desking is mainly used by planning staff, so the high image quality is ideal for viewing detailed documents such as contracts and spreadsheets. The spaciousness of the screen has also been well received, as it can be divided for different purposes, such as work and reference.” |

Back Office Standard: EV2480 Monitors Save Space and Provide a Large Working Area
“Previously, we used a 19-inch EIZO monitor as the standard in the back office. Despite requests from employees to increase the size, desk space was limited. So, we chose the 23.8-inch EV2480 to optimize space and fully expand the work area.
“Recently, remote meetings have become the norm and our employees are spending more time looking at their screens than ever before. Since upgrading to the EV2480, however, they have reported a significant reduction in eye fatigue. In addition, Paper Mode, which changes the color profile of the screen to simulate the look of paper, has been well received and its use has resulted in a noticeable reduction in stress and an improvement in overall productivity.”
Investment Banking: EV3895 Monitors Displaying a Vast Amount of Information on a Large Screen
“110 EV3895 monitors were installed in the Investment Banking Business Division, which provides M&A advisory and other services related to management strategy. In this department, the ability to process a large amount of information at once while displaying email and tabular data for reference is a constant and essential requirement. Although our company had been using a 34-inch monitor from another manufacturer, we had this need for a wider display area and began to consider going with a larger monitor. The EV3895 is highly valued for its large 37.5-inch screen, which greatly expands the working area, and its ability to display and power the PC with a single USB Type-C cable, eliminating the need to manage cables and reducing installation labor. Another deciding factor in our decision was our confidence in EIZO monitors, which we have been using for a long time.”
“Employees have commented, that when using the 34-inch monitor, they sometimes wish the screen size was a little wider to display more information when working with multiple pieces of data. Since installing the 37.5-inch EV3895 monitors we have been able to work without that stress. Furthermore, the monitor’s effective Auto EcoView function, which detects ambient light and adjusts the monitor’s brightness to the optimum level, has been well received for its comfort and ease of use without straining the eyes.”

“We hope that EIZO will continue to produce high-quality products and provide flexible installation support. We also anticipate that EIZO will continue to enhance the functionality of its monitors, thereby facilitating more streamlined equipment configurations. It would be great if the monitors could not only display images, but also supply power, connect a mouse and keyboard, and function as a hub, so that everything could be completed with just the monitor. Additionally, we would like to see monitors display screens and switch input signals in a more intuitive and straightforward manner, similar to the ease with which sunroofs on modern cars can be opened and closed by moving your hand in front of a sensor.”
